Secular humanists reject supernatural and authoritarian beliefs. They affirm that we must take responsibility for our own lives and the communities and world in which we live. Secular humanism emphasizes reason and scientific inquiry, individual freedom and responsibility, human values and compassion, and the need for tolerance and cooperation. __

The global food shortage may be an engineered fraud or just the resolt of a profit driven globalised free market.
"In this situation of general decline, there was no reason for the government, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture, to play with the market. Higher liquidity is allowing market manipulators to hoard and enjoy abnormal profits. The Government may claim that futures trading in wheat, rice and pulses like tur and urad were suspended by the Forward Markets Commission as it caused market manipulation, but Chaudhary says "futures trading are being carried out in a number of agricultural commodities." The same phenomenon was observed globally leading IGC to comment that "Global financial turmoil often overrode supply fundamentals, leading to frequent and unpredictable price swings which also affected other commodities." Is the sub-prime mortgage bust fuelling another round of speculation in food to compensate for the losses? You bet it is."
