My beliefs are informed by metaphysical naturalism. I am a Secular Humanist. Secular Humanism is a life sance and a way of thinking and living that aims to bring out the best in people so that all people can have the best in life. Secular humanists reject supernatural and authoritarian beliefs. They affirm that we must take responsibility for our own lives and the communities and world in which we live. Secular humanism emphasizes reason and scientific inquiry, individual freedom and responsibility, human values and compassion, and the need for tolerance and cooperation. __

I am an Atheist. I know that on its own the act of not beleiving in gods dose not make you a better (good) person. The problem isn't wether you believe in a god but what you alow to inform your actions and how you choose to act. <<
> I do not believe the golden rule works for many Christians because they have so many examples to the contary in the old testament. If God lived by example instead of being so vengeful and intolerant maybe his kids would have turned out better. <<
> Faith without reason and authority without question is the evil that hath brought hate crimes, slavery, racism, war, genocides and oppression. The nonreligious have been part of or have used the religious dogma and the unreasoned people to proliferate great evil. Joseph Stalin was not religious and yet his dogmatic regime killed over 40 million people. Hitler (supported by the Catholic church) used religion, printed his own bibles, to convince religious people to support world domination and the genocidal killing of minorities. <<
> For these atrocities to take place it took a populous who were used to acquiescing to authority rather than thinking for them selves and demanding real proof for what they were told. <<
> With out good critical thinking skills, fact checking skills and values like freethought, TRUTH verses dogma, tolerance, LIBERTY FOR ALL verses security, burden of proof, and a historical understanding, we will repeat many 'ungolden' rules.
